About Brigantine, NJ
Brigantine is a city located in Atlantic County, New Jersey. Brigantine has gone through several names since it was first incorporated, including Brigantine Beach, Brigantine City, and East Atlantic City. The city’s present-day name refers to the many historical shipwrecks off the city’s coastline, some of which were of the “brigantine” variety of vessels. Today, Brigantine is home to New Jersey’s only stranded marine animal rescue center, as well as the Edward B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, and the Brigantine Hotel which served as the center point for one of the first integrated beaches in the state.
Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury in Brigantine, NJ
It is generally advisable to avoid giving a written or recorded statement to the insurance company without first speaking to a personal injury attorney and getting their advice as to whether you should speak to insurance adjusters. Insurance companies want to take your statement so that they might use the things you say in your statement to undercut your claim. The insurance company might also ask you for a release to access your medical records, but they will use that to dig into your medical history for anything they can point to as evidence that your injuries resulted from pre-existing causes. If you are represented by an attorney when you are contacted by the insurance company, you can simply direct them to contact your attorney instead. Your attorney can handle communications with the insurer while looking out for your rights and interests.
There are many factors that can affect what your personal injury claim might be worth, including the strength of your evidence and legal case against the other party, what juries in your area typically award for cases similar to yours, and the track record and reputation of your legal counsel. However, the biggest factor that affects the value of your claim is the severity of the accident and your injuries. If you’ve sustained serious and debilitating injuries, you likely have incurred significant medical expenses. Serious injuries may also entitle you to recover compensation for your pain and suffering and loss of quality of life.
