Little Egg Harbor Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Galloway Township, NJ

Little Egg Harbor Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Galloway Township, NJ

An Ocean County NJ woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident on a Galloway Township roadway.

The fatal car crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 30 and 6th Avenue. The victim was reportedly walking in Galloway Township and in the process of crossing the street when an SUV traveling on the highway slammed into her. It is believed that the SUV was traveling in the left lane and headed west on the road when the driver ran a red light and struck the pedestrian.

The victim was a 27-year-old woman who lived in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Emergency medical responders went to the scene of the pedestrian accident and tried to save the victim, but they were unable to do so; she was pronounced dead shortly after the car crash.

The Galloway Township Police Department is actively investigating the hit-and-run crash and is actively searching for the driver. Witnesses were able to provide law enforcement with a description of the vehicle. According to authorities, the SUV that hit the pedestrian was a silver 90s Chevy Tahoe or Chevy Suburban. Additionally, the vehicle may have significant damage to the front driver’s side.

If Galloway Township detectives can eventually identify and apprehend the motorist, it is likely that the driver would face serious criminal charges. Additionally, the family members of the victim could potentially file a wrongful death lawsuit against the motorist. One factor in any personal injury claim could be that the woman killed in the car accident was reportedly walking in the crosswalk and fully complying with all traffic signals at the time of the fatal collision. Meanwhile, it is believed that the motorist responsible for the fatal accident ran a red light prior to striking the victim.
