Atlantic City Car Crash Caught on Surveillance Video

Atlantic City police are still trying to find a local man who was videotaped as he allegedly assaulted a driver and caused a serious car accident.

The shocking incident was captured by a surveillance video that had been set up by a local resident. A motor vehicle can be seen driving down South Carolina Avenue, near the intersection with Adriatic Avenue, and crashing into several other cars parked on the side of the road.

At one point, the car actually comes very close to striking a pedestrian. Thankfully, the vehicle missed the pedestrian. Two men riding bicycles on the sidewalk stopped pedaling, with one of the bicyclists picking up his bike and heaving it in the direction of the car. Another man attempted to reach inside the vehicle and pull the driver out. The driver eventually stopped the vehicle and remained at the scene until local law enforcement could arrive.

The only person to sustain injuries as a result of the motor vehicle accident was the driver, who later received medical treatment at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.

It is believed by law enforcement that the driver crashed into the vehicles because she was being assaulted by a man.

The male suspect is Mikal Williams, a 33-year-old man resident of Atlantic City, New Jersey. The driver of the car involved in the altercation is Shauna Simpson, a 26-year-old woman who also lives in Atlantic City, NJ.

The circumstances of the alleged assault precipitating the car accident have not yet been made public. However, it is important to note that the alleged assault did not prevent Atlantic City prosecutors from filing criminal charges against the female motorist. Additionally, the female motorist could still be liable for property damage in civil lawsuits that could be filed by the owners of the vehicles that were damaged in the auto accident.
