Police in Egg Harbor Township arrested a local man who was allegedly planning to distribute cocaine and marijuana throughout Atlantic County.
The suspect is a 23-year-old resident of Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Law enforcement officials began an investigation into the suspect after authorities intercepted a UPS package that had been shipped from Haiti and addressed to a friend of the suspect. Several agencies worked together on the investigation, including U.S. Homeland Security and the Atlantic City Police Department Task Force.
Detectives in the investigation opened the package and reportedly found one-half kilogram of cocaine. Police then arranged for the box to be delivered to both the suspect’s friend and the suspect. When the suspect accepted the item for delivery, he was placed under arrest. Police officers subsequently searched the suspect’s shed and reportedly found 120 pounds of marijuana.
